Why Guru Diksha Is the First Step on the Path of Sadhana

Guru Diksha is considered an important beginning for a seeker who wishes to progress through mantra and Sadhana under proper spiritual guidance. At Shiv Shakti Siddheshwar Akhara, Diksha is not viewed simply as receiving a mantra. It begins a disciplined relationship between the Guru, disciple, Guru Parampara, and spiritual practice.

Receiving the Guru Mantra

During Guru Diksha, the disciple receives the Guru Mantra through the Guru Parampara. The Akhara’s tradition connects this lineage with Sadashiv, Datt Guru, Matsyendranath, and Gorakhnath.

The disciple may also receive Chetana Mantra Diksha, while Gayatri Mantra Diksha may be given according to the Guru’s guidance and the disciple’s eligibility.

What Follows Guru Diksha?

After receiving Diksha, the disciple is guided in regular Mantra Jaap, Sadhana, Yajna, Anushthan, Satkarma, and spiritual discipline. A Siddh and Pran-Pratishthit Rudraksha or Sphatik Mala may also be provided for Guru Mantra practice.

For Grihastha disciples, three Sadhanas are given particular importance:

  • Guru Mantra Sadhana
  • Kuldevi Sadhana
  • Pitru Sadhana

A Beginning, Not a Completion

Guru Diksha marks the beginning of disciplined spiritual practice. The mantra provides a foundation, while Guru guidance helps the disciple understand the correct Vidhi, discipline, and direction for continuing on the path of Sadhana.
